Grey Rabbit — A Poem

Grey Rabbit inquires outside, nose twitching

Now unsure of what direction to go

Hesitates — dirty talons snatch him up

Red droplets alert others he took flight

Mice shiver in their hovels, despite warmth

Squirrels remain under foliage cover

Echoes, cracking bones, ripping skin, flesh chewed

The forest emits a sigh of relief

Hawk circles beyond sight, Moon behind him

The only witness, a clean skeleton.
